The agreement

Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Docranka. Please read them carefully. By using the site, you agree to be bound by them.

Last updated 14 June 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Docranka (“we”, “us”) governing your access to and use of Docranka.com and related services (the “Service”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account or submit content. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

2. The Service

Docranka is a healthcare discovery and patient-experience platform. We help you find doctors and healthcare services and read genuine patient experiences. We are the trust layer before booking. We are not a booking, medical, or emergency service, and we do not provide medical advice or diagnosis.

3. Our independence and the regulatory context

Docranka is an independent platform. We are not a government body and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any regulator, ministry, or hospital, unless we state so explicitly. We do not certify, license, or rank the clinical competence of any practitioner.

Healthcare in Sri Lanka is regulated by independent authorities, and you can rely on them for official records:

  • Doctors and dental surgeons are registered with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC), which holds the official register.
  • Private hospitals, clinics, channelling centres and laboratories are registered under the Private Medical Institutions (Registration) Act, overseen by the Private Health Services Regulatory Council (PHSRC).
  • Medicines, medical devices and pharmacies are regulated by the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).
  • Registered Ayurvedic physicians are registered with the Ayurvedic Medical Council.

Where a profile or listing is shown on the Service, its presence is not an endorsement, and its registration status is a matter for the relevant authority above.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Post content that is false, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or unlawful.
  • Submit reviews that are not based on a genuine experience, or take part in coordinated or incentivised reviewing.
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.
  • Share private health information about yourself or others, or assert a clinical diagnosis as fact.
  • Attempt to manipulate ratings, scrape the Service, or interfere with its security or operation.

Your reviews are also governed by our Review Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

5. Your content and licence

You retain ownership of the content you submit, such as reviews. By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, moderate, reproduce and distribute that content in connection with the Service. You are responsible for the content you submit and confirm you have the right to share it.

6. Moderation and removal

We may review, moderate, refuse to publish, or remove content that breaches these Terms or our Review Policy. We operate a notice-and-action process: where we receive a valid notice that content is unlawful, we will review it within a reasonable time, remove unlawful content, and keep an internal record. Honest, civil reviews are not removed simply because they are negative.

7. Doctor claims, profiles and disputes

Doctors and providers may claim a profile. Claiming is free and requires verification, including against the SLMC register. By claiming, you confirm you are the person or an authorised representative, agree to keep your information accurate, and accept that paid plans affect visibility and tools only, never ratings or the order of reviews. Misrepresentation may result in suspension of your account or profile.

Claiming a profile does not let a doctor delete honest reviews. A claimed doctor may reply once to any review, request a correction to factual profile details, and report a review that breaks our Review Policy, for example one that is defamatory, unverifiable, or contains private data. If you believe a profile should not exist, or you wish to dispute its contents, contact us and we will review the request.

8. Listings and accuracy

Some directory information is compiled from public sources and may contain errors or be out of date. We provide it on a best-effort basis and do not warrant its accuracy or completeness. Please verify important details, such as a provider's registration, availability, fees and hours, directly with the provider or the relevant authority before relying on them.

9. Intellectual property and trademarks

The Service, including its name, design, text and software, is owned by Docranka or its licensors and is protected by law. You may not copy, scrape, or reuse it beyond normal personal use without our permission. Names, trademarks and logos of hospitals, brands and public bodies remain the property of their owners; we display a provider's mark only where the provider has supplied it or permitted its use, and their appearance does not imply any partnership or endorsement.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. Patient experiences reflect individual opinions, not medical advice or verified clinical outcomes. The Service does not provide medical advice or diagnosis; please see our Medical Disclaimer. In an emergency, call 1990 (Suwa Seriya) or seek urgent care.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Docranka and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on content, listings or guidance found on the Service, including any decision about your healthcare.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Contact

If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact our team.
